This Life

RICH6

I get tired…
but I also laugh.
Fatigue, some tears,
but also much joy.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Schedules and naps,
tents, stories, and parks.
Routine, repeat…
prayers in sweet voices.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Not much freedom
to do all I want.
Always need help
but want a big hug.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

So hard some days,
but others so fun.
We’re all broken,
but that’s why He came.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Vaccines today;
cuddles so he’ll nap.
Tears from those shots,
now safe from disease.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Life is so dark,
but bright hope shines through.
This broken world
needs a Rescuer.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Some good, some bad
this life is a mix.
But He is now
here, to make new, fix.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Babies right now,
but not always so.
They’ll get so big,
and then they’ll be gone.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Please just survive,
I whisper some days.
Just make it through,
until the day’s end.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

How will I use
the time I’m given?
To love? To praise?
To yell or berate?

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Jesus, Jesus,
You came to rescue.
May they know You
then sing, hope, cry, dance.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

My sweet babies
need You just like me.
To be made new,
all good like at first.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Please remind me–
I know I’ll forget.
There is purpose
even in the mess.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Help me use this
time well, to love, teach.
To point to You
and Your great rescue.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Lift our eyes up
to You, our Joy, Hope.
Bright shining light
when everything’s dark.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

Delight in Your
beauty, glory, grace.
Because it won’t
always be like this.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

You make all things
new, and good, right now.
It’s a process
but You won’t give up.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

One day we’ll dance
in glory and light.
Our Rescuer
came to make it right.

The days are long,
but the years are short.

So, moms, take heart–
remember this truth:
He is making
all things good and new.

The days are long,
but the years are short.
Glory awaits
because of His grace!
